What are the UDA Grassroots Elections?
The UDA grassroots elections are internal party polls aimed at electing officials at the polling centre level, including chairpersons, secretaries, and treasurers. The Repeat Phase III elections in Nakuru are being conducted in select polling centres to strengthen UDA’s grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Earlier, on March 14, UDA Deputy Party Leader Prof. Kithure Kindiki emphasized that newly elected officials across 8,819 polling centres would form Ward Congresses. These Congresses will act as Electoral Colleges to elect Ward Congress Executive Committees in line with the party constitution.

When and Where to Vote
The elections are set to take place on Saturday, March 28,2026, at designated polling centres across Nakuru County. Registered UDA party members should check with their local party officials or the UDA secretariat for their exact voting location.
Importance of Grassroots Elections
These grassroots elections are important because they give ordinary party members a direct voice in choosing leaders who will mobilise support, resolve local issues, and represent the party effectively.
A strong grassroots network ensures better coordination during national elections and keeps the party connected to the people on the ground.
Public Criticism and County Response
While the announcement has been welcomed by party members, some residents have criticized the pace of political organization compared to slower progress on development issues such as roads, water, health facilities, and youth empowerment.
The Nakuru County Government, however, maintains that it continues to hold regular public participation forums on key matters including the County Fiscal Strategy Paper, the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP), and budget processes, giving residents opportunities to contribute to governance and development priorities.
