Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) leader Kalonzo Musyoka has fired back at President William Ruto, insisting that the opposition is not “clueless” but a legitimate alternative government in waiting.

He has declared that his coalition understands the 2010 Constitution—the document left to Kenyans by the late President Mwai Kibaki and that their first agenda, if elected, will be to return the country to constitutionalism.

Through a post on his official X account, Kalonzo accused Ruto of unconstitutional looting and positioned his team as the United Alternative Government.

He warned that Kenyans will hold the President accountable on August 10, 2027.

“We are not a group of clueless leaders. We are a team that understands the 2010 Constitution—the very document the late President Mwai Kibaki entrusted to this nation. That Constitution guarantees our freedoms. And our first agenda is to restore constitutionalism. Kenya is a constitutional democracy. You cannot govern any other way,” Kalonzo said.

Meanwhile, President Ruto is on a five‑day development tour of Western Kenya, which began on March 15, 2026, in Kakamega County.

On March 17, he dismissed the opposition as “clueless” and “directionless,” claiming their only agenda is his removal from power in 2027.

He argued that when competitors raise substantive issues, his administration will respond with clarity and reason, but when they resort to insults, he will dedicate only “1%” of his time to rebutting them.

“The remaining 99% of our time is reserved for what truly matters; serving Kenyans,” he said.

Ruto has positioned his administration as results‑driven, insisting that change is already unfolding.

“We continue to prove the naysayers wrong, those who once doubted the viability and impact of our programmes, as tangible results become increasingly evident. The change we promised is no longer a distant aspiration; it is unfolding right before our very eyes,” he said.

He challenged critics to account for their own record, noting that some have held positions of influence for over four decades without delivering meaningful progress.

During his tour, Ruto launched and commissioned several multi‑billion shilling projects across Busia, Kakamega, Bungoma, and Vihiga counties.

On March 16, he launched the construction of the 13‑kilometre Nangina–Sio Port–Okados–Mundere Road in Busia County, a KSh860 million project linking Funyula and Budalang’i constituencies to unlock trade.

He also laid the foundation stone for the Budalang’i Modern Market, a KSh130 million investment, and launched the KSh545 million Matayos–Namwitsula Bridge–Nawesa CAIIP–Shibale Road.

In Kakamega County, Ruto unveiled Last Mile Connectivity at Nderema Village, bringing electricity to 161 homes at a cost of KSh12.7 million.

He also launched the KSh185 million Cheptais Modern Market to boost local commerce and opened new classrooms at Toroso Primary School, funded by the Safaricom Foundation at KSh60 million. In Bungoma, he commissioned the KOICA‑Chwele–Kibabii Water Project, a KSh232 million investment set to provide reliable water access to over 185,000 residents.
