The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party has unveiled major leadership changes, naming Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka as its new party leader following internal restructuring within the coalition.
The decision was reached during a meeting of Azimio’s top decision-making organs, where officials agreed on a new leadership direction as the coalition repositions itself after the death of its former leader the late Raila Odinga.
As part of the changes, Suna East Member of Parliament (MP) Junet Mohamed has been removed from his role as Secretary General. He has been replaced by Suba North MP Caroli Omondi, who will now oversee the coalition’s administrative and organisational affairs.
In another appointment, Philip Kisia has been named Executive Director, taking over from former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju, who previously held the position.
The coalition has formally submitted the leadership changes to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties, alongside meeting minutes, statutory documents, and official communication regarding the changes.
Azimio officials say the restructuring is aimed at strengthening the coalition as it prepares for future political engagements, including early groundwork towards the 2027 General Election. The coalition also resolved to open its doors to additional political parties as part of its expansion strategy.
