The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) lauds the new election of its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) David Omwoyo as President of the World Association of Press Councils (WAPC), terming it as," A proud moment for Kenya." 

Through a post on X, MCK says his election into the position is, "set to elevate media standards across East Africa and Beyond."

According to the East Africa Press Councils (EAPC), Omwoyo's election was announced during a regional meeting of media regulators on July 16, 2025. It was met with warm applause from journalists and press leaders across the region.
