President William Ruto’s visit to the United Kingdom and Spain has opened new doors for Kenya’s economy. He used the trip to attract investors, strengthen partnerships, and show the world that Kenya is ready to lead in global trade.
President Ruto officially departed Nairobi on Sunday, June 29, 2025, to begin his dual-country tour first to Seville, Spain, and then onward to the United Kingdom.
In Seville, he participated in the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development, addressing global challenges like poverty, climate change, and biodiversity loss.
He also met with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and King Felipe VI to explore clean energy, youth empowerment, and climate resilience cooperation.
Ruto also held bilateral talks with President of Poland at the sidelines of the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development. Ruto states that the talks were in relations to cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

At the Kenya Investment Forum in London, held during the Africa Debate, President Ruto spoke directly to international investors. He said Kenya will move forward with clarity, confidence, and determination. He highlighted exciting opportunities in energy, infrastructure, digital technology, and financial markets.
One of the biggest moments of the trip was renewing the Kenya–UK Strategic Partnership. This deal will boost trade, support green energy, and strengthen cooperation in technology, climate change, and regional peace.
The President also met with new UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street, where they discussed shared goals and stronger ties.
Ruto toured King’s Cross Railway Station, a symbol of modern and efficient public transport.
Inspired by what he saw, he said, “Kenya will apply similar ideas to the upcoming Nairobi Railway City.” This is a major project that will change how people move around Nairobi.
