“Recognizing their vast skills and experience, we agreed on the need to create structured opportunities to harness their expertise in infrastructure development, climate action, security and disaster management, mentorship, combating drug abuse, and conflict resolution and mediation, among other areas,” she said.
Kihika further affirmed her administration’s readiness to work closely with them in driving Nakuru’s development agenda.
“I affirmed our firm commitment to partnering with them in driving Nakuru County’s growth and prosperity,” she added.
The meeting also highlighted the inclusion of spouses of military veterans, including widows, in empowerment initiatives. Kihika encouraged them to take advantage of the county’s financial support mechanisms.
“I encouraged them and connected them to our low‑interest Sh100 million Wezesha Fund to enable access to affordable credit for their income‑generating ventures,” she noted.
A New Chapter for Civic Service
The engagement signals Nakuru’s intention to integrate retired military personnel into community development frameworks, leveraging their leadership, discipline, and technical expertise to support broader socio‑economic goals.
With the launch and operationalization of the Nakuru veterans’ chapter, the county now positions itself among regions strengthening support structures for ex‑service personnel while tapping into their capacity for sustained civic contribution.
