The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC's) statement released on X on February 24, 2026 on Mini polls preparedness.

The by‑elections will fill four vacant elective positions. These include the Member of the National Assembly seat for Isiolo South Constituency in Isiolo County, left vacant following the death of MP Mohamed Tubi Bidu in November 2025.

At the grassroots level, voters will elect new Members of County Assembly (MCAs) in West Kabras Ward within Malava Constituency, Kakamega County. In Mbeere North Constituency, Embu County, ballots will be cast for two MCA seats in Muminji and Evurore Wards.

In its latest update, the IEBC highlighted that critical logistical milestones have been achieved. Recruitment and training of polling officials including presiding officers and clerks have been completed to uphold the highest standards of professionalism.

The Commission confirmed that dispatch of essential election materials, including ballot papers and statutory forms, is underway. Specific tallying centers have been designated in each region to facilitate transparent counting and declaration of results.

Emphasizing its commitment to credibility, the IEBC called upon all candidates and political parties to adhere to the Electoral Code of Conduct. Security arrangements have been finalized in collaboration with relevant agencies to maintain peace before, during, and after the polls.

The Commission encouraged registered voters in Isiolo South, West Kabras, Muminji, and Evurore to turn out in large numbers on Thursday to exercise their democratic right.

“To all voters in the four by‑elections, your participation matters. We encourage you to turn out in large numbers and peacefully exercise your democratic right. We also call upon citizens and leaders to maintain peace during polling, counting, and announcement of results, and even after the completion of the by‑elections,” the IEBC said in part.
