- The forum brought together stakeholders, including residents, landowners, members of the business community and other interested parties, to review and provide input on the proposed planning framework and survey outcomes.
Residents of Mutaita Centre in Elementaita Ward have participated in a public participation forum convened by the County Department of Lands and Physical Planning, in partnership with Spatial Milestone Kenya.
In a post by the County Government on Facebook on February 13, 2026, the aim of the forum was to deliberate on the proposed Physical and Land Development Plan and Cadastral Survey for the area.
The forum brought together stakeholders, including residents, landowners, members of the business community and other interested parties, to review and provide input on the proposed planning framework and survey outcomes.
The exercise forms part of the statutory requirements under the Physical and Land Use Planning Act, which mandates inclusivity, transparency and public involvement in land use planning processes.
During the meeting, planners outlined the objectives and scope of the Physical and Land Development Plan, detailing proposed land use zones covering commercial, residential, public utility, institutional areas and open spaces.
Discussions also focused on road network planning, access improvements, and the provision of public amenities and infrastructure to support orderly growth.
Participants were further taken through the cadastral survey process, including boundary demarcation, parcel numbering and verification of land details.
Officials emphasised that the survey is intended to bring clarity, enhance security of tenure and promote structured development within Mutaita Centre.
According to the County Government, Senior Planner Evans Kariuki reaffirmed the department’s commitment to incorporating viable community inputs before finalising the plan.”
“He noted that the goal is to ensure the Physical and Land Development Plan and Cadastral Survey reflect the needs and aspirations of Mutaita residents while promoting sustainable and legally compliant development,” said the County Government.
The area leaders assured residents that they will fast-track negotiations between the County Government, the Catholic Diocese of Nakuru and affected residents to address concerns involving plots located within the CDN farm.
Some of the allotment letters for these parcels reportedly date back to 1915.
Residents have been urged to remain patient and cooperative throughout the process, noting that structured dialogue would help safeguard their interests while ensuring compliance with planning regulations.
