- The Cabinet Secretary for Diaspora and Foreign Affairs Musalia Mudavadi described the move as a powerful step toward greater people-to-people connections and a more integrated African continent.
Citizens of Kenya and Senegal can now enjoy visa-free travel for up to 90 days, following bilateral talks between Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Kenya’s President William Ruto.
The agreement, which applies to holders of diplomatic, service, and ordinary passports, is expected to boost trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between East and West Africa. This diplomatic breakthrough signals a strategic shift toward deeper economic and civic integration.
Strengthened ties could unlock increased trade flows, joint ventures, and investment opportunities particularly in agriculture, energy, and digital innovation. President Ruto emphasized that to fully realize these opportunities, the two nations are exploring the establishment of a Joint Cooperation Commission to help remove barriers to trade and investment.
